A1 - Good Typography?
I chose this play poster as an example of typographic design because of how bright and clear the message is. The use of yellow as the background really helps the face of the woman pop as there is a blue filter over it. I find that the simplicity of the background really draws your eye to the mouth where all the action is happening. The type used is bold and black making it easy for the viewer to read. The arrangement of the text also adds interest to the viewer's eye by not just reading horizontally from left to right as you typically would.
What I found funny about the poster is how there are many different sections of information coming from the mouth which telling by her facial expression, she is shouting. This all ties perfectly together with the poster advertising to the public about how they want an audience to see this play and the woman is shouting out information that could appeal to the public making it seem like a must-see.
Paula Scher, an iconic graphic designer, is the designer of the poster. The sender of this piece is The Public Theater in NYC. The message is about the play "The Diva is Dismissed". The intended audience is for the public and common play goers.
